Sorry, Moonlight fans: Mick St. John will not be resurrected.

Despite valiant efforts from die-hard fans to bring the beloved but short-lived series back to life on the small or big screen, Alex O'Loughlin says that story is over.

"That's a [executive producer] Joel Silver question, but as far as I know, no. It's done. It's over. Mick St. John has been laid to rest," he tells TVGuide.com.

That doesn't mean the show's cancellation was painless, especially since Moonlight was "doing well" ratings-wise. "It's a bit of a sad situation, a sad story for me.  Of course, I love that show. I put everything into it. But what are you going to do?" he says. "That's what we do as actors. We put 100 percent into things from the screen test on. It's the most bizarre job in the world: You put 150 percent into it and then you walk away."

The Aussie hunk hasn't walked away from TV or CBS, as his new medical drama, Three Rivers, premieres Sunday at 9/8c. O'Loughlin plays Dr. Andy Yablonski, a preeminent transplant surgeon, on the series, and he hopes his Moonlight fans will hop onboard even without any vampire appearances.

"I'm not exactly sure if that crosses their genre of work!" he says.

{alltv} 'Sesame Street' does 'Mad Men'

 

 

 

It is perhaps the ultimate pop-culture compliment, and now it's been paid to "Mad Men."

We're not talking about Emmy Awards or anything like that. No, this is something way cooler: "Mad Men" is now the subject of a "Sesame Street" parody.

As it did with "Law & Order: Special Letters Unit" a few years ago, the venerable PBS kids show has translated "Mad Men" into Muppet form. Muppet Don Draper and his minions are trying to come up with the perfect campaign for Happy Honey Bear, and after a couple of failed attempts they hit on just the right note. Along the way they teach the youngsters about what mad, sad and happy feelings look like along the way while leaving out the repression, angst and duplicity of the grown-up show.

{alltv} Adam Shankman Juggles Judging, Movies and a Variety Show

 

 

Director, producer and choreographer Adam Shankman just might be earning the title of the hardest working man in showbiz. He's currently dancing nimbly between a busy movie career, a now-permanent slot as a judge for So You Think You Can Dance?, and his latest project: a planned variety show pilot starring Carrie Underwood.

"I'm co-directing and producing a variety special starring Carrie Underwood for Fox with Nigel Lythgoe," Shankman told TVGuideMagazine.com at the "Rock A Little, Feed A Lot" Benefit Concert for Feeding America, which the seemingly tireless helmer also produced and directed. The show is currently "just a pilot" at the moment, he said, but it may become something more regular.

"I think they want to do something along the lines of The Mandrel Sisters,' Shankman said, recalling the 80s-era variety show headlined by country star Barbara Mandrel and her siblings. "They want to bring back the variety show and Carrie's gorgeous and talented and fabulous."

At the same time, Shankman's also made his frequent judging stints on SYTYCD into a permanent gig, and he said he feels he knows what he'll be bringing to the table. "I like to think that I bring balance. I like to thing that I bring order out of chaos. And I think I bring a nice whipping boy for Nigel. It's one place I can go and not have to be the boss and say what I can to try to help those kids."

Meanwhile, Shankman's production company has three films expected to hit theaters in early 2010—"The Last Song" starring Miley Cyrus, "Going the Distance" starring Drew Barrymore, and Step Up 3-D—and he's gearing up to go behind the camera for two planned musical features, Sinbad: The Last Voyage and Bob: The Musical.

"I'm not exactly sure how I'm doing it all," Shankman admitted. "I'm just going to learn how to not eat, sleep or breathe."

{alltv} Will Ferrell to Become a Father Again

 

 

Will Ferrell's house is fast becoming a real boys' club.

The former Saturday Night Live star, 42 and his wife, auctioneer Viveca Paulin, 40, are expecting their third child, a boy, the actor's rep tells PEOPLE.

The couple, who met in an acting class in 1995, have two sons already – Magnus, 5, and Mattias, 2. Their little brother is due in January, according to a source.

Ferrell last starred in this summer's Land of the Lost, and earlier this year his Broadway show, featuring his famous George W. Bush impersonation, was nominated for a Tony.

{alltv} Katharine McPhee: I Wouldn't Be Surprised If Simon Ditched American Idol, Too

 

 

Katharine McPhee wasn't exactly shocked to learn that Paula Abdul was leaving American Idol.

"It doesn't surprise me, because it wouldn't surprise me if Simon Cowell was leaving the show," McPhee told me at last night's benefit concert for the Los Angeles Regional Foodbank and Feeding America.

"They've all been on the show for so many years…Do what you've got to do," she said. "People try to figure out the real stories and I'm like, 'Who cares? She wants to go.' "

In fact, McPhee thinks it's time for the show to shake things up a bit with someone like Ellen DeGeneres...

"I imagine some of the crazed fans who love Idol and don't want it to change at all would be upset," said McPhee, who has a second album, Ubroken, out early next year. "But I think it's a great changeup."

Besides, DeGeneres brings "the cool factor," McPhee said. "There's just something cool about Ellen. You can go around and around and say, 'What can she bring to the show?' but she's just cool!"

Meanwhile the Feeding America concert, which took place at Club Nokia and was spearheaded by David Arquette, featured performances from McPhee, Sheryl Crow, Ben Harper, brothers Joel and Benji Madden and even a "Smelly Cat"-singing Lisa Kudrow along with appearances by Christina Applegate, Lance Bass, Alanis Morissette and Isla Fisher.

Hanging backstage with Kudrow and wife Courteney Cox, Arquette told me he's hoping to make the fundraiser an annual event—but he refuses to take too much credit.

"We all do it," he said. "Lisa's been here since 5 p.m."

Kudrow cracked, "But I wasn't feeding anyone. I was just sitting here."

After releasing another album, Shakira is ready to give acting a shot.

According to the show's creator, Silvio Horta, the singer is set to appear on Ugly Betty — as herself.

"We're huge fans of Shakira," Horta tells PEOPLE. "We had a very memorable moment in the third episode where Betty has a makeover that goes wrong and she struts down the street to 'Hips Don't Lie.' We've mentioned her several times over the course of the series and have always wanted to work with her. She's an enormous Latina icon, as is Betty, and we thought it was a perfect fit."

As for her plotline: Shakira will be the key to helping a Mode photo shoot get back on track when the magazine is on location in the Bahamas in an episode titled "The Bahamas Triangle."

{alltv} Dennis Hopper Hospitalized with Flu-Like Symptoms

 

 

Easy Rider filmmaker Dennis Hopper was rushed to a New York City emergency room by ambulance Wednesday, reported ET.

The actor, 73, was wearing an oxygen mask when he was wheeled in, sources tell ET. His rep, Sheila Feren, later confirmed to the Associated Press that Hopper was suffering flu-like symptoms and complaining of a stomach ailment when he was admitted to an unidentified New York medical facility.

Hopper, who has played intense, insane characters in such films as Apocalypse Now and Blue Velvet, was nominated for Oscars for Easy Rider and Hoosiers.

Feren said he has been forced to cancel New York interview appearances to promote his new Starz series Crash, based on the 2004 Oscar-winning Best Picture.

Khloe Kardashian is basking in wedded bliss.

"I've never been so happy," the reality TV star, 24, who got married to LA Lakers player Lamar Odom on Sunday, writes on her blog. "I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for all the love and support I've received."

The newlyweds haven't been able to enjoy a honeymoon – Odom, 29, began training camp on Wednesday and has a preseason game Oct. 7 – but Kardashian is still enjoying her new life, telling fans she feels "truly blessed."

And while rumors persist that the ceremony was non-binding and scripted for the family's reality TV show, Keeping Up with the Kardashians, older sister Kim insists the reports are untrue.

"Let Mr. And Mrs. Odom enjoy being newlyweds!" she adds. "They are sooo freakin cute together!"

{alltv} Miley Cyrus: Strep Throat on Tour

 

 

Just two weeks into her Wonder World tour and Miley Cyrus is already feeling the strain of life on the road.

"Woke up with a sore throat," Cyrus, 17, posted on her Twitter account Tuesday, with a frown face emoticon. "Why am I always sick?"

Though she tried to get plenty of rest before her show in Salt Lake City Tuesday night, the singer ran off stage while performing "7 Things" and a stage manager told the crowd that Cyrus needed medical attention, according to The Salt Lake Tribune. She re-emerged onto the stage after 15 minutes and completed the show, but later announced she had strep throat.

Cyrus told her fans via Twitter on Wednesday to keep their "fingers crossed" she feels better for her nighttime Omaha concert.

In the Cyrus family, laughter seems to be the best medicine. The 'tween star posted a Twitter photo of her famous father, Billy Ray Cyrus, dressed in a blonde wig and hospital mask, saying "These are the times that my daddy REALLY comes in handy. He made me smile through the worst pain I've ever felt."

Before she kicked off her second tour this month, Cyrus – who filmed the movie The Last Song this summer and then jumped into tour rehearsals – 'fessed up to feeling fatigued. "I'm a little tired I will admit but I'm just taking it easy when I can and take care of myself," she told PEOPLE.
